What does it mean if you have nostalgic dreams?
“Dreaming is our mind's way of processing our present feelings and emotions. Our thoughts can relax into the sleepstateand the brain can turn to remembering and going over everythingwe'vebeen through during the day. Some of the memories we process are recent, but some may be old.
“It is entirely possible to dream of a pastlife,in fact there are lots of documented cases of people verifying street names and specific details frompreviousgenerations. When dreaming of a past life, the dream's meaning lies in the lessons which were learned during thatpreviouslife period.”
What does it mean if you dream about an ex from years ago?
“Dreaming about the ex could simplyrepresentthat you miss them... but it could mean other things as well. Sometimes, a spiritual link can form between two people whohaven'tseen each other in a long time, andthey'lldream of each other at the same time.
“Spiritually, this could mean that their higher selves have reason to communicate, but their everyday selvesdon'tneed to meet. Sometimesyou'lldream of an ex because you took a long time to process the relationship, and feelings are just surfacing now.
“Important to note that this is not a sign that you need to reach out to the ex. Your dreams are private andthere'sno obligation to share.”
What does it mean if you dream about a friend you haven’t seen in years?
“The nature of the dream is more meaningful than the friend who may be present in them. You need toanalysewhether the dream left you feeling happy, refreshed, or actually worried.
“Friendships that have run their course are in the past because they belonginthe past. If this friendshipwasfor you,you'dstill be in contact with them. Therefore, the connection in the dreamisn'tto the specific person who appeared in it itself, but the dream's meaning relates to who you were while that friendship took a more meaningful role in your life and what kind of person you used to be.”
What does it mean if you dream about your old house?
“In a dream, the houserepresentsourmind. For example, if there are locked rooms in the house we dream of, those are parts of the mind thatwe'rereluctant to explore. If we dream of a house that is elegant and fragranced, it speaks to a well-tended mind, which receives regular love.
“Dreaming of an old house, sends us right back to who we were back then. Ifit'sa childhood home, itrepresentswho we were, and so the dream may reveal a hankering to the carefree and optimistic mindset of those days.
“If the house in the dream is one that was shared with a former partner, then the dream shows a sense of nostalgia towards the person we used to be, or a desire to be in love again.”
What does it mean if there are old music/film references in your dreams?
“Old songs and nostalgic films can send important messages in a dream. Some of our emotions can get wrapped up in a tune, so that every time we hear that specific track, it takes us back to a time in our lives when we first fell in love, for example.
“Like sights and scents, musical arrangements can also 'trap' complexmemories, andhelp them rise to the surface again. When those old video or musical clips appear in a dream, they hark back to the emotions that used torise upin the past, evoked by the memories. The films and music that evoke particularemotions,arrive in a dream when those emotions threaten torise upagain, whether positive or negative.
“Especially if you're prone to repressing your feelings in your current life, the dream can access those old emotions, making them present via reminding you of those nostalgic clips while you're asleep, helping you process current life events.”
